By inserting this mandrel into the Morse taper of your lathe’s tailstock, a chuck or faceplate can be threaded on so it may be easily centered on the work piece being held in the headstock. This will save time, and give predictable results every time. The threaded area is made of aluminum then permanently attached to a hardened and ground steel Morse Taper Arbor.
